Jose Mourinho has insisted that he is not feeling nervous
despite the responsibility of being
the Manchester United manager and believes he is
prepared to handle the pressure.
Manchester United announced the appointment of
Mourinho a little over a month ago following
Louis van Gaal’s dismissal, but the Portuguese was
unveiled in a formal press conference
earlier this morning.
Despite winning the FA Cup last season, Manchester
United have underachieved over the last
three seasons and will be playing in the Europa League
during the 2016/17 campaign.
And Mourinho has been tasked with the job of taking the
club back to their old heights, but the
Portuguese is not feeling pressure as he believes that he
is in the enviable position of being the
Manchester United manager.
He insisted that he is aware of the challenges that lie
ahead, but stressed that he is not feeling
nervous as he has proved his worth at big clubs over the
last decade.
And the Portuguese believes he has arrived at Old
Trafford at the right moment of his career.
Mourinho said in a press conference: “This is not a dream
job, this is reality.
"I think it is a job that everyone wants and not many
have a chance to have and I have it and I know
obviously the responsibility, the expectations.
“At the same time I know the legacy, I know what is
behind me and the history of this club.
"I know what the fans expect from me and I think this
challenge obviously doesn’t make me nervous
because my history in the last ten years or more was
always to meet the expectations of big clubs.
“I feel it comes at the right moment of my career. I feel,
very well prepared and very stable. I can say
that I am where I want to be.”
Mourinho has already snapped up Eric Bailly and Zlatan
Ibrahimovic this summer, and Henrikh
Mkhitaryan is expected to complete his move to Old
Trafford later this week.
